Over the past five years, I’ve had the honor to work closely with children and adults diagnosed with chronic health conditions. In this time, I’ve developed a passion and expertise in helping my clients and their families adjust to life after being diagnosed with chronic illness.
Sometimes when navigating a new medical diagnosis, and the surgeries and treatment that come with it, we can experience medical trauma. This can often feel confusing, because the trauma can originate from something that was meant to save our lives or help us feel better. However, to the individual going through the experience, it felt too overwhelming for them to process, leading to flashbacks and anxiety.
When it comes to chronic illness, it often has a ripple effect on the whole family. Caregivers too need a place to feel supported and to fill up their own cups. Whether it’s at work in a helping profession or in our personal lives, caregivers can experience burnout. In therapy, we can recognize the signs of burnout and help you get to the route cause. Thus, allowing you to get back to providing support to those you love and also living a full and beautiful life yourself.
